A Woman - A Present for My Mom

I know someone,
Who everyone will wish they knew.
She is statuesque and strong,
Sensitive and caring,
Bold and beautiful.

Just looking at her, you wouldn't see what I do.
You see a blind woman, too stubborn for her own good.
You see a single mother with two children.
You see someone you wouldn't look at twice.
You see someone who you shouldn't care about.
But you are wrong.

I look at this woman and this is what I see:
I see a blind woman who is determined to keep going.
I see a single mother who has raised two children into young adults.
I see a woman who I wish I could see everyday forever.
I see a woman I love more than anything in the world.

There is a woman who will fight tooth and nail for those she loves.
There is a woman who knows what true love is and what it can do to a person.
There is a woman who has seen more than her share of pain,
There is a woman who will not give up.

So before you start making judgements,
Before you just turn away,
Listen to the story she tells,
See the fire in her eyes,
Look upon the woman who is more beautiful than anyone can see.
The woman who God created for a specific purpose,
Maybe not to change the world,
But to influence those who will.
Who is this woman I speak of?
I will tell you, I call her Mom.
